In those moments of deep exhaustion, a dangerous whisper often creeps into our hearts: Why is this taking so long? Why is my relief being delayed?

If you are fighting a silent battle right now, I want you to take a deep breath. Let’s sit down, heart to heart, and look at the grand design of the trials we face through a completely different lens.

The Cinematic Lesson of Al-Hakim (The All-Wise)

Think about the last time you watched a powerful, gripping movie.

In Act One, the innocent protagonist is hit with an overwhelming hardship. Suddenly, a malicious villain enters the equation, scheming in the shadows, creating mess after mess. As a viewer, you are glued to the screen. You might even find yourself shouting at the characters, wishing the villain would get exposed right then and there.

But what would happen if the filmmaker answered your wishes and wrote the villain out of the story in chapter one just to make the audience happy?

The masterpiece would be completely ruined.

The story would be cut short. It wouldn’t be enjoyable or complete. You wouldn’t see the protagonist discover their inner strength, you wouldn’t see them find a completely new path, and most importantly, you would be cheated out of witnessing absolute, poetic justice.

If we can sit through a ninety-minute movie, patiently trusting that a flawed human storyteller has a perfect plan for the ending… how can we lose faith in Al-Hakim, the All-Wise, when the script of our real life takes time?

The Danger of Wanting a Shortcut in Chapter Two

In Islamic theology, destiny (Qadr) is literally referred to as what has been written by the Divine Pen. The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) beautifully reminded us: “The pens have been lifted and the pages have dried.” (Tirmidhi).

When Allah (SWT) allows a hardship to drag on, it is never out of cruelty. As stated in Surah Al-Baqarah (2:216):

Consider the story of Amina, the main character in my latest AI short film, The Wight Of The Script.

Amina is a young widow trying to feed her orphans through her home-baking business, only to have her work maliciously sabotaged by a bitter relative. If her trial had ended instantly, Amina would have stayed comfortable in her small neighborhood kitchen. But the hardship forced her out. It forced her to drive into the big city, look for new clients, and ultimately land a life-changing corporate contract she never would have dreamed of pitching to before.

The toxic person in her life thought they were destroying her. In reality, they were just an instrument in the Divine Script, pushing Amina exactly toward her greatest blessing.

Tie Your Camel, Have Sabr, and Trust the Author

Islam never asks us to be passive victims. We are explicitly taught to tie our camels first, and then place our trust in Allah. True Sabr (patience) is not sitting down and weeping in defeat; it is moving forward with grace, keeping your heart clean, and working hard while leaving the final results to the Creator.

While the people who envy you or scheme against you are staying up at night planning their next move in the dark, remember this: They are plotting against the creation, but you are speaking directly to the Creator.

Your current heavy chapter is not the end of your book. It is simply the necessary setup for a beautiful, just finale designed by the ultimate Author.
